Why Choose Breakfast Blend?
Bold and full-bodied
A satisfying black tea with enough character to make a strong morning cup without becoming overwhelmingly bitter.
Perfect morning tea
The robust flavour and naturally occurring caffeine make it an excellent choice for starting the day.
Excellent with milk
Its full-bodied character pairs beautifully with milk, creating the classic comforting cup associated with traditional British breakfast tea.
Versatile throughout the day
Although perfect for breakfast, this is a tea you can enjoy at any time — morning, afternoon or whenever you need a comforting cup.
Loose leaf quality
Loose leaf tea allows the leaves room to expand and release their natural flavour during brewing, creating a more enjoyable tea-drinking experience.
The Story of Breakfast Tea
The idea of a breakfast tea developed from the popularity of strong black teas that could be enjoyed with breakfast and stand up well to milk and sugar.
Blends known as English Breakfast, Irish Breakfast and Scottish Breakfast developed their own distinctive characteristics, but the underlying idea remained the same: a robust, satisfying tea designed to complement the first meal of the day.
Breakfast Blend has become a staple in homes around the world, valued for its strength, reliability and comforting familiarity.
There is something wonderfully traditional about putting the kettle on in the morning, allowing the tea leaves to properly infuse and sitting down with a freshly brewed cup.
How to Brew Breakfast Blend
For the best flavour, use approximately 2–3g of loose leaf tea per cup.
- Bring freshly drawn water to 95–100°C.
- Add 2–3g of Breakfast Blend to your cup, teapot or tea infuser.
- Pour over the freshly boiled water.
- Allow to infuse for approximately 3–5 minutes.
- Remove or strain the leaves.
- Add milk and sugar according to taste.
For a stronger morning cup, use a little more tea or extend the brewing time.
The Perfect Traditional Cup
For a classic British-style cup:
2–3g Breakfast Blend
Freshly boiled water
3–5 minute infusion
A splash of milk
Sugar, if desired
Allow the tea to brew properly before adding milk. This gives the leaves time to release their full flavour and produces a rich, satisfying cup.
